Catalysts for the reduction of non-engine-related emissions

There are numerous applications in both industry and private households in which catalytic converters can be used to clean exhaust air. This often involves processes in which organic substances containing hydrocarbons are emitted.


The scope of such non-engine-related sources is large. They range from industrial processes for manufacturing a variety of basic chemicals or systems in which solvents are used (e.g. automotive paint systems) to coffee roasters, dental ovens or kitchen ovens. With the latter, catalysts can be utilised to eliminate unpleasant odours or residues such as fat. Compared to thermal aftertreatment, the primary advantage of catalysts is generally the significantly lower investment and operation costs.  


Apart from "designing" the catalytic coating, INTERKAT also supports its customers in these fields of application by examining to what extent "complex" substrate materials and structures can be coated.
